Apple Picking

It's so good to be back after a week of not being able to blog!  We had some technical difficulties over here, but thanks to one of our "computer gurus" and his incredible super powers we are finally back up and running.  My mom spent this beautiful weekend with us, and seeing how it was truly the most perfect (almost) fall weather, we decided to do a little apple picking!  Our apple picking adventures actually started on Friday at a different orchard, but due to the sheer amount of people that were there(at 4:00pm on a Friday no less!) we decided to wait to do our picking 'till early the next day.  On Saturday, we got up, got dressed and headed over to Westward Orchards for some cider, donuts and apple picking!  Truly, it was perfect.  It was totally our speed (read: not crowded at all) and an all around glorious day.  This orchard has become our orchard of choice ever since we went there for the first time last year to pick apples.  Such a simple operation, not commercial at all.  It's always peaceful there too, which makes it even more appealing.  We are now the proud owners of a bushel of apples which we will spend this week turning into apple sauce (to can), apple crisp and apple cake!  Needless, to say, the house will smell divine!

  1. we also went apple picking at a smaller orchard that is less crowed and may go again, Do you have a WW recipe for apple crisp? I found one, but I don't know if it is good. Also are you canning to store with the fridge? if so send me instructions we plan to do that as well. Ours was a perfect day as well!

  2. Hey Friend, Somethings are just not meant to be made into a WW recipe and I think that apple crisp is one of them! I just use the regular recipe and calcuate the points for the crisp and the ice cream (Edy's light usually)! I do have instructions for canning that I can surely send your way!
